Campus Safety Walk Scheduled for Nov. 14

Faculty, staff and students on the Arkansas Tech University campus in Russellville are invited to participate in the fourth annual campus safety walk co-hosted by the Department of Public Safety and the Office of Facilities Management on Tuesday, Nov. 14.

The walk will begin in parking lot K near Witherspoon Hall at 8 p.m. Participants will gather near the Department of Public Safety vehicle on site. In the event of inclement weather, the walk will be re-scheduled for 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 15.

“We encourage all students, faculty, and staff to be a part of this event,” said Joshua McMillian, chief of the Arkansas Tech Department of Public Safety. “The purpose of this event is to identify any problem areas on campus where people don’t feel safe. This can be due to insufficient lighting, landscaping and many other factors. The group will identify safety concerns on campus and a detailed list will be compiled based on the group’s evaluation. This information will be presented to university officials as a document to guide future improvements on our beautiful campus.”

McMillian and Brian Lasey, facilities management director, will lead the campus safety walk.
