Campbell Finishes 2nd at Rhodes Invitational

Arkansas Tech freshman Olivia Campbell finished second among a field of 100 runners at the Rhodes College Invitational cross country meet in Memphis, Tenn., on Saturday.

Campbell (photographed) completed the 6-kilometer course in 22 minutes, 16 seconds. She finished just three seconds behind meet champion Maddie Harrigan of Rhodes College.

A two-time Great American Conference women’s cross country runner of the week this season, Campbell has been among the top four finishers in all four of the Golden Suns’ meets this year.

Arkansas Tech sophomore Cheryl Nolan posted her third consecutive top-15 finish. Nolan was ninth at the Rhodes College Invitational with a time of 23:04.

Kaitlin Bounds (34th, 24:44), Amanda Bradbury (56th, 26:04) and Elizabeth Gean (66th, 27:09) also competed for the Golden Suns on Saturday.

Arkansas Tech accumulated 152 team points and finished sixth among 12 teams. NCAA Division I member University of Memphis won the team title with 34 points.

The Golden Suns will travel to Wichita Falls, Texas, to run in the Midwestern State University Cross Country Festival on Saturday, Oct. 8.
