Busy Five-Day Stretch Begins at Home

Arkansas Tech University will begin a five-day period in which it will play three Great American Conference basketball doubleheaders by hosting Ouachita Baptist University at Tucker Coliseum in Russellville on Thursday, Feb. 11.

Game times are set for 5:30 p.m. (women) and 7:30 p.m. (men). Tickets will be available at the door. Those with a valid Arkansas Tech identification card will be admitted free of charge.

It will be Military Appreciation Night at Tucker Coliseum. Veterans and active duty members of the armed forces will receive free admission to the games. Fans are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue clothing to the games.

The Golden Suns (17-2 overall, 15-0 GAC) hold a four-game lead for first place in the GAC women’s basketball standings with seven regular season games remaining. They have won 11 consecutive games, including a 69-48 victory at Ouachita Baptist on Jan. 14.

The OBU Lady Tigers (7-14, 4-11) have lost two consecutive games and eight of their last 10.

The Wonder Boys (11-10, 6-9) are currently on the bubble for a postseason berth. They are tied with Southeastern Oklahoma State University for eighth place in the GAC men’s basketball standings. Only the top eight eligible teams in the final standings will advance to the GAC Tournament March 3-6 in Bartlesville, Okla.

The OBU Tigers (12-9, 12-3) sit atop the GAC men’s basketball standings. They saw their 10-game winning streak come to an end on Saturday with a 77-75 loss at East Central University. Ouachita defeated the Wonder Boys 94-80 in Arkadelphia on Jan. 14.

After hosting OBU, the Golden Suns and Wonder Boys will take to the road for GAC twin bills at Southern Arkansas University (1 and 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 13) and Harding University (5:30 and 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 15).
