Brass in the Clouds Set for Sept. 19

Area residents will be able to enjoy an evening of music on Sunday, September 19, as Mt. Nebo State Park and the Arkansas Tech University Brass Choir will present the annual “Brass in the Clouds.”

This will mark the sixth year for the concert, which will take place at Sunset Point on Mount Nebo at 6:30 p.m.

More than a dozen musicians from Arkansas Tech participate in the annual concert.

Those performing this year include:

  • Trumpet- Jared Davis, Lucas Davis, Cassie Loy, Jordan Smith
  • Trombone- Patrick Mahoney, Tyler Bevil, Zach Whitworth
  • French Horn- Shelly Counts, Dustin Horton, Amanda Johnson
  • Euphonium- Michael Cash
  • Tuba- Dennis Valley

Gary Barrow, professor of music, says the students have been preparing for the concert since classes began in August.  He adds, “This event is so popular, and these students have really worked hard.  I hope everyone will make plans to attend and enjoy an evening of beautiful music and scenery.
