Both Tech Teams Going to NCAA Tournament

www.arkansastechsports.com will have live coverage of both first-round NCAA Tournament games involving Arkansas Tech. By sending both its women’s and men’s basketball teams to the 2015 NCAA Tournament, Arkansas Tech matches a feat that it accomplished in 2010, 2011 and 2013. The Arkansas Tech women’s team will make its 12th appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Golden Suns are 19-11 all-time in the event. They won regional championships in 1998, 1999, 2010 and 2011. Arkansas Tech was women’s NCAA Division II national runner-up in 1999. Prior to joining NCAA, the Golden Suns made nine NAIA National Tournament appearances between 1987-97. They were NAIA national champions in 1992 and 1993. Arkansas Tech’s women also competed in the 1980 AIAW National Tournament. The Arkansas Tech men’s team is in the NCAA Tournament for a seventh consecutive year. The Wonder Boys are one of just seven NCAA Division II men’s programs with an active streak of seven or more consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. The others are Bellarmine University, Florida Southern College, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Metropolitan State University, Midwestern State University and Seattle Pacific University. Arkansas Tech’s men are 5-6 all-time in the NCAA Tournament. Their best-ever showing in the event came in 2012, when the Wonder Boys reached the NCAA Division II South Central regional final. Prior to joining the NCAA, Arkansas Tech’s men reached the NAIA National Tournament on 12 occasions. The Wonder Boys advanced to the NAIA national semifinals in 1954, 1955 and 1995. The current string of seven consecutive national tournament berths by Arkansas Tech’s men matches the longest streak of national tournament berths in Arkansas Tech men’s basketball history. Sam Hindsman coached the Wonder Boys to seven straight NAIA National Tournament berths from 1950-56. View the complete women’s 2015 NCAA Division II Tournament bracket.
