Book Signing, Reception November 7 at ATU

The Arkansas Tech University Department of History and Political Science will host an event on Wednesday, Nov. 7, celebrating Dr. James L. Moses’ new book “Just and Righteous Causes: Rabbi Ira Sanders and the Fight for Racial and Social Justice in Arkansas, 1926-1963.”

There will be a book signing beginning at 11:30 a.m. and a reception at 12:30 p.m. in the Arkansas Tech Museum, 1502 N. El Paso Ave. in Russellville. Admission will be free and open to the public.

“Just and Righteous Causes” is published by the University of Arkansas Press. It tells the story of Sanders’ advocacy for social justice in the realms of race, religion and gender during his nearly four decades leading Temple B’nai Israel in Little Rock.

Moses serves as professor of history at ATU. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Louisiana State University, a Master of Arts degree from the University of New Hampshire and a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Tulane University. He has been a member of the ATU faculty since 1999.
