The Arkansas Tech Reserve Officer Training Corp (ROTC) recognized two graduating cadets at the commissioning ceremony Saturday.

Seth Bluhm and Corey Jackson commissioned into the United States Army as second lieutenants prior to commencement exercises.

The new officers received a black beret and were presented with a silver dollar as a symbol of their success, among other honors throughout the ceremony.

Ret. Colonel Larry Brandt delivered a key note speech encouraging the students to find their personal success in the military by never losing determination and perseverance.

Lieutenant Colonel Vixen James facilitated the taking of the oath, which was repeated at the morning commencement ceremony. The men received a standing ovation from their peers and others in attendance.

Following the commissioning ceremony, the new officers were recognized during a reception held in their honor in the Doc Bryan Student Services Building Rotunda.
