Blood Drive Continues Today

Arkansas Tech Student Government Association blood drive for the Tech community will continue today.

People wishing to donate blood can stop by the Young Ballroom between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Vice President of Community Outreach Derick McKinney encourages students to give because there is a blood shortage across the nation. “Every blood type is needed at this time, and giving the gift of life is a great way to give to those in need,” McKinney said.

SGA hopes to collect 200 units of blood for the Red Cross to distribute to local hospitals and blood banks for those in need.

According to the American Red Cross website, someone in the country needs blood every two seconds, and hospitals most commonly request Type O-negative blood because it can be used for all recipients.

Blood donors must present a Red Cross blood donor card or a valid driver’s license to give blood.
