Arkansas Tech University will host a Black History Month keynote address entitled “From the Streets to the Stage” by Monti Washington on Tuesday, Feb. 27.
The event will begin at 7 p.m. in Doc Bryan Student Services Center Lecture Hall, which is located at 1605 Coliseum Drive on the ATU campus in Russellville. Admission will be free and open to the public.
The presentation focuses on providing students with problem solving skills they can use in the classroom and their lives.
Washington cites how he overcame adversity in his life to obtain two college degrees and become a state basketball champion, award winning poet, McDonald’s All-America nominee, nationally-recognized actor and co-founder of non-profit organization Truality.org.
