Big Day Two Gives Wonder Boys 3rd at UNA

Arkansas Tech had the best team score among a 20-team field in the final round on Tuesday to surge into a third-place finish at the University of North Alabama Spring Classic at the Robert Trent Jones at the Shoals Fighting Joe course in Muscle Shoals, Ala.

The Wonder Boys bounced back from an opening-round 313 to shoot 2-under par 286 in the final round and post a two-day total of 599.

Tournament host North Alabama (298-290-588) won the event, while Delta State (303-290-593) finished five strokes back and in the runner-up position.

Colton Dillard shot 78-70 to lead the Wonder Boys. His 36-hole total of 148 was good for a share of fourth place in the individual standings.

Ryan Hitt (T-10th, 75-74-149), Jonathon Spikes (T-32nd, 79-73-152), Graham Rucker (T-39th, 81-73-154) and Parker Hale (T-57th, 87-70-157) also represented Arkansas Tech in the event.

The Wonder Boys will complete their 2009-10 golf regular season by competing in the Natural State Golf Classic April 12-13 in Heber Springs.

The 2010 Gulf South Conference Golf Championships are scheduled for Hot Springs Country Club on April 19-20.
