Bayer Collects 300th Career Victory

Arkansas Tech University head volleyball coach Kristy Bayer earned her 300th career win with a 30-28, 25-22, 25-21 Golden Suns’ victory over Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Okla., on Thursday night.

The triumph extended Arkansas Tech’s winning streak to 12 matches and allowed the Golden Suns (18-5 overall, 10-0 Great American Conference) to maintain sole possession of first place in the GAC standings.

Hunter Eshnaur (13 kills), Katie Huff (12 kills) and Haley Owen (11 kills) led a balanced offensive attack for Arkansas Tech.

Tech’s Sarita Stegall notched 41 assists and 17 digs. Madison Nagel (24 digs), Eshnaur (15 digs) and Kaci Jackson (14 digs) also helped the Golden Suns finish with a 90-79 edge in digs.

Priscila Mendes made 11 kills for Oklahoma Baptist (13-11, 8-2).

Bayer has served as head coach for the Arkansas Tech volleyball program since 2004. After inheriting a program that won just four matches in the season before her arrival, Bayer has led the Golden Suns to five regular season conference championships, three Great American Conference Tournament titles and three NCAA Division II Tournament appearances.

Arkansas Tech will conclude a two-match road trip by visiting Southern Nazarene University for a 3 p.m. GAC match in Bethany, Okla., on Friday, Oct. 23.
