Battle of the Halls to Begin Monday

Monday – Opening Mixer

  • Event begins at 5:15 p.m. at the Chambers Lawn
  • Participants may enjoy refreshments and view the flags for the respective residence halls
Monday – Opening Ceremony
  • Event begins at 6 p.m. at the Doc Bryan Lecture Hall
  • Representatives from each residence hall will present their hall flag and their hall video
Monday – Capture the Flag
  • Event begins at 9 p.m. at the residence halls
  • Each hall will be given a pennant and must protect their pennant from being stolen by representatives from other residence halls
  • The competition ends at 7 p.m. on Thursday
Tuesday – Clash of the Halls
  • Event begins at 2 p.m. at the Intramural Fields
  • Hall members will compete in a paint war, mattress races, an obstacle course relay and tug of war
Wednesday – Rockem’ Soccer
  • Event begins at 2 p.m. at the Intramural Fields
  • A team from each hall will compete in a game of soccer
Thursday – Video Game Tournament
  • Event begins at 7 p.m. in the Young Ballroom
  • Hall members will compete in a tournament playing the game Soul Caliber IV
Friday – Quizbowl
  • Event begins at 2 p.m. in the Doc Bryan Lecture Hall
  • A team from each hall will attempt to answer questions by buzzing in and guessing correctly
Friday – Closing Ceremonies
  • Event begins at 8 p.m. in the Doc Bryan Lecture Hall
  • The winning hall will be announced and will receive a trophy for their efforts
In addition to receiving points for placing in the various competitions, halls will also have the opportunity to gain spirit points at each event.  Halls may receive up to 30 spirit points for each event attended. At the end of the week, the points each residence hall receives for competing, spirit and March of Dimes participation will be tallied to select the 2014 Battle of the Halls champion.
