Battle of the Halls Returns to Tech

Battle of the Halls gets underway next week on the Arkansas Tech campus.  The festivities begin Monday evening with opening ceremonies at 9 p.m. in the Doc Bryan Student Services Building Lecture Hall.

The annual event pits the various residence halls against one another to determine who earns the title of Battle of the Halls champions.  The halls earn points for participating in each activity, and each hall also earns points for the number of residents attending each event.

On Tuesday afternoon, the various residence halls will begin beautification projects, and participants will have until Wednesday afternoon to complete the projects.

Tuesday afternoon hall residents will be at the Intramural Field for a kickball tournament, which is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.  Following the tournament, hall residents will take over the Hull Building swimming pool for Big Splash Night.  The competition begins at 9 p.m. and includes relays and other swimming competitions.

On Wednesday, a blood drive is being hosted in conjunction with SGA and VAC.  The drive is taking place throughout the day Wednesday and Thursday.  Read more about the blood drive.

Wacky Olympics is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. at the Intramural Field.  Organizers say participants will face off against residents of other halls in a variety of messy games.

Quiz bowl and closing ceremonies are planned for Thursday night in the Doc Bryan Student Services Building Lecture Hall.  The competition begins at 9:00 p.m., but officials say students should arrive early to watch.
