Battle of the Halls Begins

Students living on campus are “Catching the Spirit” as Battle of the Halls 2012 is underway.

Yesterday, the formal opening ceremony was held to begin the festivities. Each hall performed a spirit skit and presented their Hall Crest.

Wacky Olympics will be today at 5 p.m. on the Intramural Fields. Students should dress appropriately for fun and crazy games such as tug-of-war, mattress wars, red rover, water balloon toss and a sheet flipping game.

Tomorrow, RHA will host the Lead Out Loud Community Service Day from 2-5 p.m. Participants will have an opportunity to make the community a better place in a variety of ways.

Halls have already been collecting money for March of Dimes, and the amount collected will be figured into point totals at the end of the week. Collections will end at 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

A kickball competition will be held at the Intramural Fields on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.

The quiz bowl competition will be held Thursday evening in conjunction with the closing ceremonies, which begin at 9 p.m. Winners and runners up will be announced during the ceremony.

Additionally, halls have an opportunity to gain spirit points at each event. Halls can receive up to 15 spirit points for each event attended, and 20 spirit points for kickball.

“Spirit is not only about your enthusiasm and support for your hall, but is also your spirit, enthusiasm and support for Arkansas Tech University and all communities within,” RHA officials said.
