Basic photo classes set for April 21, 28

Carrol Copeland, photo editor for the Times Record, will teach a basic photography class at Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus on back-to-back Saturdays, April 21 and 28.

The classes, which will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Student Services Conference Center, will cover – but are not limited to – the various parts/functions of cameras, terminology, composition, using flash, shooting action and people, understanding light, depth of field, saving images, lenses, ISO and more.

Copeland, who lives in Sallisaw, Okla., and began his career with the Times Record in 1974 as a staff photographer, said he’s taught classes like this for 25 years throughout the region.

“I do it because I enjoy teaching, and it is fun to watch students become better photographers,” he said.

The cost of the classes is $75, and the registration deadline is April 16.
