Dr. Ed Bashaw, dean of the Arkansas Tech University College of Business, has announced his intention to step down from his administrative duties and return to full-time teaching as of July 1, 2016.
Bashaw joined the Arkansas Tech faculty as dean and professor of marketing in summer 2010.
“Arkansas Tech expresses its appreciation to Dr. Bashaw for the advancements that the College of Business has made under his leadership,” said Dr. AJ Anglin, interim vice president for academic affairs at Arkansas Tech. “He guided the college through the process of continuing its accreditation from AACSB, a prestigious mark of quality for schools of business around the world. His commitment to academic innovation is demonstrated through the development of our business data analytics program. The College of Business is better as a result of Dr. Bashaw’s work as an administrator, and we look forward to his continued contributions as a faculty member.”
Bashaw previously served as dean of the Texas A&M University-Texarkana College of Business from 2006-10. He was a faculty member at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (1994-2004) and director of executive education at UALR (2004-06).
An alumnus of Baylor University, Bashaw earned Bachelor of Science (1980) and Master of Science (1982) degrees in education during his time as a student in Waco, Texas. He returned to Baylor and received a Master of Business Administration degree in 1991. Bashaw added a Ph.D. in marketing from the University of Memphis in 1995.
Co-author of numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals, Bashaw has provided consulting services in executive training for Federal Express, Arkansas Children’s Hospital Research Institute, Dixie Restaurants Inc., Wendy’s of Arkansas and Heifer International.
His teaching experience also includes stints on the faculties at Christian Brothers University and the University of Memphis.
Arkansas Tech will initiate a search for a new dean of the College of Business during the spring 2016 semester.
