The Arkansas Tech University Band of Distinction makes plans to honor composer Dr. W. Francis McBeth.
The band is learning set of music and drill to perform during halftime at the Arkansas Tech football games. The performance will be a tribute to Dr. W. Francis McBeth and features a collection of his most famous works.
McBeth is the composer laureate for the state of Arkansas and a long time friend of the Arkansas Tech Department of Music. Hal Cooper, director of bands, says McBeth recently suffered a stroke, and the Arkansas Tech Band wanted to recognize him for his work over the years.
The Arkansas Tech University Band of Distinction will debut the new show during halftime on Saturday, October 9.
