Band of Distinction to Offer Train Depot Showcase

The Arkansas Tech University marching band, “Arkansas’ Band of Distinction,” will provide a preview of the music in its fall 2023 show during a community event at the Russellville Train Depot in Russellville Downtown on Friday, Aug. 18.

The show will begin at 6 p.m. Attendance will be free and open to the public.

The title of the 2023 ATU marching band show is “Stronger Than.” It includes “Caves” by Cody Fry, “The Impossible Dream” by Mitch Leigh and “Rocky Montage” by Vince DiCola.

Dr. Daniel A. Belongia serves as director of bands and professor of music at ATU. Dr. Jon Nash is associate director of bands and assistant professor of music.

Nash oversaw the musical arrangements and drill design for the fall 2023 program. Colleen O’Connor provided the guard design and Hannah-Leigh Smith developed the twirl design.

The ATU marching band will make its football season debut on Saturday, Sept. 9, when Arkansas Tech hosts Southern Nazarene University for the Wonder Boys’ first home game of the 2023 campaign. Kickoff at Thone Stadium is set for 6 p.m.
