Hundreds of area fourth graders will be on the Arkansas Tech University campus next week for the Julie Crowley Memorial Kids Concert, which is designed to introduce the students to music.
The concert will be taking place on Wednesday, April 21, and again on Thursday, April 22, at the Witherspoon Building Auditorium.
Throughout the concert, members of the Arkansas Tech Band of Distinction will showcase many of the instruments used in the band. Organizers say the students will get to see each instrument, hear the instrument being played and learn the history of the instrument.
Tau Beta Sigma, the band service sorority, organizes the concert each year in order to show area youngsters that music can be fun.
In addition to learning about each instrument, the students attending the concert will be treated to performances by several instrumental ensembles featuring Arkansas Tech band students.
Organizers say this year there will also be performances by several vocal ensembles including a barbershop quartet.
