Hundreds of area music students will be at Arkansas Tech beginning today for the annual junior high band camp.
This is the 47 th year of band camp at Arkansas Tech, and around 600 students are expected to spend the week on the campus perfecting their music skills.
Students attending the junior high band camp must have at least one year of band experience, and campers will work with musicians throughout the week to strengthen skills specific to their instrument.
Those attending the camp will also have the opportunity for individual instruction by taking a private music lesson from one of the band directors working at the camp.
Campers will be divided into nine bands, and each band will rehearse several times each day during the camp.
At the conclusion of the camp, each band will present a free concert for friends and family. The concerts are scheduled to begin at noon on Saturday, July 17.
