Aulgur Selected Chair of Board of Directors for ACE

Director of the Professional Development Institute Jeff Aulgur was recently selected to serve as chair of the Board of Directors for the Arkansas Coalition of Excellence (ACE).

ACE is Arkansas’ statewide coalition for nonprofit organizations. As a “nonprofit for nonprofits,” ACE is dedicated to elevating capacity and promoting success within Arkansas’ nonprofit sector.

Aulgur hopes that during his term ACE may adopt on-line training programs for nonprofits that could provide time and date flexibility in addition to an affordable cost.

“The majority of nonprofit organizations in Arkansas have limited resources to successfully achieve their mission and do not have discretionary funds to invest in staff development,” Aulgur said.

He adds that because nonprofits tend to yield leaders and managers, it is important that high quality, affordable professional development is critical to the long term success of the nonprofit sector.

ACE currently offers training programs throughout Arkansas, but none are currently available online.

Aulgur has served on the ACE Board of Directors since 2008 as a representative of the 3rd Congressional District. The board has since transitioned from holding an operational role to acting as a governing body. Prior to being Director of the Professional Development Institute, he worked 17 years in the nonprofit community.

Aulgur has also served on the governing boards of the Arkansas River Valley Arts Center, Pope County Community Foundation and River Valley United Way. He recognizes the importance of nonprofits in Arkansas. “In 2008, Arkansas’ nonprofit sector employed more than 68,000 individuals with total revenues exceeding $9.9 billion.”

The prime goal of ACE to ensure a standard in Arkansas nonprofit governance is set based on its Arkansas Diamond Standards.
