Arkansas Tech alum and employee Jeff Aulgur has recently been promoted to Sergeant Major in the U.S. Army Reserve following more than 21 years of service.
His new job responsibilities entail the accreditation and quality assurance of more than 120 Army Reserve engineer training missions throughout the United States.
SGM Aulgur is assigned to the 1st Brigade (engineer) 102nd Division (Mission Support) in Tulsa.
“The primary challenge to training Soldiers in a reserve component environment is delivering the same level of education received by our Active Duty counterparts in a compressed time frame,” said SGM Aulgur. “However, the United States Army now relies heavily upon distance learning to achieve our training and operational goals.”
He has been awarded the Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster and the Army Commendation Medal with one silver oak leaf cluster and one bronze oak leaf cluster. He was selected as the United States Army Instructor of the Year for the Army Reserve in 2006.
Aulgur, a 2008 graduate of Arkansas Tech with a master’s degree in emergency management and homeland security, now works as the director the Professional Development Institute at Arkansas Tech .
