ATU Volleyball Sets Winning Streak Record

The 2017 Arkansas Tech University volleyball team continued to re-write the program’s record book on Monday night.

The nationally 12th-ranked Golden Suns defeated Central Baptist College 25-16, 25-6, 25-7 to establish a new ATU record for longest volleyball winning streak at 27 consecutive victories.

The previous record of 26 consecutive wins was established by the 2000 ATU volleyball team from Sept. 12, 2000, through Nov. 11, 2000.

Head coach Kristy Bayer rested the majority of her veterans during Monday night’s non-conference match. Ellie Perkins led the offensive attack with eight kills. Emily Acker made 32 assists and Madison Nagel recorded 15 digs.

ATU (27-0 overall, 11-0 Great American Conference) will return to GAC play when it hosts Henderson State University on Thursday, Oct. 26. First serve for the Tech-HSU match at Tucker Coliseum in Russellville is scheduled for 6 p.m. No admission will be charged.
