ATU to Host Robotics State Championships March 11-15

More than 150 K-12 robotics teams will descend upon Arkansas Tech University’s Tucker Coliseum for the 2025 Arkansas VEX Robotics State Championships during mid-March.

The competitions will begin on Tuesday, March 11, when 44 elementary school teams will participate in VEX IQ Robotics Competition (VIQRC). The next day will see 42 middle school teams arrive at Tucker Coliseum for their VIQRC state championship.

On Friday, March 14, 24 middle school VEX V5 Robotics Competition (V5RC) teams will compete at ATU. The week of state championships will conclude on Saturday, March 15, with 46 high school V5RC teams taking their turn on the coliseum floor.

Six elementary VIQRC teams, five middle school VIQRC teams, six middle school V5RC teams and 11 high school V5RC teams at the 2025 Arkansas VEX Robotics State Championships will qualify for the 2025 VEX Robotics World Championships, which will be contested at Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center in Dallas May 9-14.

The ATU robotics team and advisor Jacob Weidenfeller take the lead in hosting the annual Arkansas state championships at Arkansas Tech. Competition will take place from 9 a.m. until approximately 4 p.m. each day of the state championships.

VEX Robotics competitions are presented by the Robotics Education and Competition Foundation. The foundation’s stated mission is “to increase student interest and involvement in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) by engaging students in hands-on, affordable and sustainable robotics engineering programs.”
