ATU Theatre Students Honored by Kennedy Center

The cast and crew of the fall 2023 production of “Godspell” at Arkansas Tech University has earned seven commendations from the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival.

In addition to excellence in overall production for the full ensemble, the following “Godspell” cast and crew members earned individual awards:

  • Excellence in Music Direction (Garrett Snavely of Dardanelle)
  • Excellence in Costume Design (Jessica Lavin of Greenbrier)
  • Excellence in Dramaturgy (Kyia Carter of London)
  • Excellence in Lighting Design (Sarah Pollock of Rogers)
  • Excellence in Stage Management (Haley Sorg of Clinton)
  • Excellence in Properties Design (Bri DeClue of Dardanelle)

The Kennedy Center also recognized ATU students Julius Chenault of Russellville, Rue Recinos of Alma and Tripp Wilson of Texarkana as nominees for the Irene Ryan Scholarship, which provides recognition and financial assistance to student performers wishing to pursue further education.

The 2024 Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival is scheduled for Feb. 26-29 in Abilene, Texas.
