Arkansas Tech University is home to the Great American Conference baseball and softball pitchers of the week for the final full week in February.
Kyle Wilson, a right-handed junior from Flagstaff, Ariz., was named GAC baseball pitcher of the week after he tossed a four-hit shutout against Northwestern Oklahoma State University at Tech Field in Russellville on Friday night. Wilson struck out 11 Rangers.
It was the second consecutive GAC pitcher of the week award for Wilson, who is 2-0 with no runs allowed on six hits with 23 strikeouts over his last two appearances.
Jalissa Gum, a right-handed senior from Red Rock, Okla., was selected GAC softball pitcher of the week. She was 2-0 in two appearances against NWOSU during a four-game GAC series in Alva, Okla., on Friday and Saturday. Gum pitched a total of 14 innings and allowed just one unearned run on five hits while striking out 26.
Along the way, Gum became the Golden Suns’ all-time leader in career strikeouts, surpassing the 363 strikeouts recorded by Casey Hammons from 2007-09.
