More than 1,000 food items have been placed in blessing boxes in Russellville during the fall 2024 semester due to the efforts of the Arkansas Tech University Interdisciplinary Minds Performing Acts of Community Transformation (IMPACT) program.

The ATU IMPACT program is a combined effort between students from the Alpha Kappa Delta sociology honor society, the Alpha Phi Sigma criminal justice honor society and the ATU Behavioral Sciences Club.

“Our students are always thinking of innovative ways to give back,” said Dr. Jason Ulsperger, ATU professor of sociology and advisor to all three organizations involved in the ATU IMPACT initiative. “We discussed seeing blessing boxes around town empty and wanted to help. I’m impressed these students with diverse backgrounds and interests decided to work collaboratively and are doing it successfully. They are an outstanding group. I am looking forward to seeing what they do in the future.”
