The Arkansas Tech University Department of Public Safety will offer a civilian response to active shooter events workshop from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 20.
The workshop will be held in Doc Bryan Student Services Center Lecture Hall, 1605 Coliseum Drive in Russellville. Admission will be open to the public. Heath Whorton, ATU emergency manager, will be the lead presenter.
Attendees will learn about trends for active threat events in the United States, the science of how humans respond to being in a high-stress, life-or-death situation, what not to do in an active threat situation and what to do in an active threat situation. There will also be a review of case studies.
