ATU Places Two in Top 15 at Miss Arkansas 2021

Arkansas Tech University representatives claimed two of the top 15 spots in the 2021 Miss Arkansas competition, which concluded on Saturday, June 19, at the Robinson Center in Little Rock.

Sophe Sligh of Hot Springs, a 2021 ATU graduate, and Olivia Battles of Ozark, a junior student at Arkansas Tech, emerged from a field of 51 candidates to make the top 15.

Sligh, 22, is Miss Sweetheart of Arkansas. Her talent was a violin performance of “The Devil Went Down to Georgia.” Sligh’s social impact statement was “Live Smart for a Healthy Heart.”

Battles, 20, is Miss Arkansas Tech University. Her talent was a vocal performance of “Almost There.” Battles’ social impact statement was “Be Beautiful and Diverse.”

ATU was also represented in the 2021 Miss Arkansas competition by Lauren Brown of Harrison, a 2021 graduate of ATU, and Hannah Lomax of Russellville, a junior student at Arkansas Tech.

This was the first Miss Arkansas appearance for Battles, Brown, Lomax and Sligh.

Miss Arkansas is an official preliminary to the Miss America competition.
