The Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) program is one of the top ten schools for LPN in Arkansas according to practicalnursing.org.
“Through our mission statement, we believe providing students with better transparency in regards to practical and vocational nursing programs throughout their state allows them to better match the right school accessible to them. This is the reason we have developed our LPN & LVN Programs Ranking based on NCLEX-PN exam passing rates,” states the website.
ATU-Ozark received an overall score of 94.69. According to the website, the ranking methodology “began with retrieving NCLEX-PN pass rates from all the LPN & LVN programs state by state through various methods include making Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests. [The] requests were for the previous five years of information available.”
ATU-Ozark’s LPN program integrates theory with clinical practice. Nursing students have clinical experiences in the following health care service areas: Adult health, maternal child, mental health, geriatrics, and pediatrics. The theory is based on the concepts of holism, in which the physical, emotional, social and spiritual well-being is considered. Area hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, mental health units, and pediatric and adolescent facilities are utilized for clinical experiences.
The Ozark Campus offers a Technical Certificate in Practical Nursing (53 hours) and an Associate of Applied Science in Allied Health with an option in Practical Nursing. The AAS in Allied Health with an option in Practical Nursing is intended to be a “feeder program” to the Associate of Applied Science in Nursing program at the Ozark Campus, or the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at the Russellville campus. This degree prepares the graduate to sit for licensure in Practical Nursing and does not result in a Registered Nursing credential.
The deadline to apply for the Spring 2020 semester is October 1, 2019. To learn more about the requirements and the curriculum for the LPN program, please visit https://www.atu.edu/ozark/academics/p-nurse.php.
