
In order to become a championship-level digital marketer, one must study championship-level digital marketers.
Five Arkansas Tech University students received that opportunity when they met with the social media team for the 2025 National Basketball Association champion Oklahoma City Thunder in October.
Will Aaron, Josiah Carter, Miguel Green, Aiden Kennon and Tyler Parker went behind the scenes at the Thunder’s home arena, Paycom Center, to learn about the complexities of marketing a large-scale operation and the value of developing marketing fundamentals in a smaller organization.
The ATU delegation visited with James Price, Oklahoma City Thunder director of social media; Brianna Rhone, Oklahoma City Thunder social media content producer; and Julian Cedron, Oklahoma City Thunder social media manager.
The ATU students were accompanied by Dr. John Narcum, ATU associate professor of marketing; Katie Hook, ATU instructor of business administration; and Olivia Johnson, ATU visiting instructor of marketing.
