Arkansas Tech University Faculty Senate recognized Dr. Julie Furst-Bowe for her service to the institution during the December ATU Board of Trustees meeting.
Dr. Newton Hilliard, ATU Faculty Senate chair, and Dr. Ellen Treadway, ATU Faculty Senate secretary, presented Furst-Bowe with a gift. Members of the ATU Board of Trustees, ATU Interim President Dr. Russell Jones and other ATU administrators also recognized Furst-Bowe for her service to ATU during the meeting.
Furst-Bowe served as ATU interim vice president for academic affairs from March 2022 through the end of the fall 2023 semester.
A native of Wisconsin, Furst-Bowe had a 30-year career in higher education that included service as chancellor at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville from 2012-15.
Furst-Bowe returned to her home region to serve as provost and vice president for academic affairs at Chippewa Valley Technical College (Wis.). She accepted that position in August 2015 and remained until her retirement in December 2021. She came out of retirement to serve at ATU on an interim basis.
