ATU Emergency Management Marks 25 Years

Emergency Management 25th Anniversary

The Arkansas Tech University Department of Emergency Management will host a 25th anniversary celebration marking a quarter-century of emergency management education at ATU on Thursday, April 20.

The reception will begin at 1 p.m. in Chambers Cafeteria West Dining Room, 204 West O Street in Russellville. The event is open to alumni, current students and future students in the ATU emergency management programs and all ATU faculty, staff and students.

The keynote speaker will be ATU emergency management alumnus Skot Covert, who serves as a meteorologist for THV Channel 11 in Little Rock.

ATU has conferred more than 1,000 degrees in emergency management since developing its program in the late 1990s. ATU offers a Bachelor of Science degree in emergency management and a Master of Science degree in homeland security and emergency management.

In 2005, ATU became the first institution of higher learning to have its degree programs accredited by The Council for Accreditation of Emergency Management Education.
