Arkansas Tech University and the Bentonville School District have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that will create a pathway for paraprofessionals in Bentonville schools to pursue ATU’s elementary education degree online.

According to the terms of the MOU, ATU and the Bentonville School District will work together “to build mutually beneficial relationships that provide placement sites and supervisory assistance for candidates enrolled in the ATU educator preparation program.”

Paraprofessionals involved in the program will “complete coursework, field experiences, internship/residency and satisfy degree requirements while being employed” with the Bentonville School District. The district will provide a mentor teacher and ATU will provide a site coordinator/supervisor to support the candidates.
