Volleyball Suns Fall in GAC First Round

Ouachita Baptist University ended Arkansas Tech University’s 2018 volleyball season by defeating the Golden Suns 25-21, 25-22, 24-26, 18-25, 15-11 in the first round of the Great American Conference Tournament at Bank OZK Arena in Hot Springs on Thursday night.

The Lady Tigers (23-8) never trailed in the decisive set. They jumped out to a 7-3 lead before Arkansas Tech rallied to pull within 8-6. Three straight OBU points paved the path to victory for the Lady Tigers, who ultimately clinched the victory on a kill by Tabatha Huckabee.

Adrianna Nolly paced Ouachita with 24 kills. Stormi Leonard made 59 assists and 12 digs for the Lady Tigers.

Hunter Eshnaur (24 kills) and Allie Anderson (23 kills) led the Golden Suns’ attack. Delaney Saucier notched 38 assists for Tech, while Meredith Darnell made 19 digs.

The Golden Suns completed their season with an overall record of 17-12.
