Golden Suns Make Home Debut Wednesday

Few college basketball programs enjoy a home-court advantage as distinct as the one built by the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns over the past four decades.

The Suns will make their 2018-19 home debut by hosting Ecclesia College on Wednesday, Nov. 14.

Arkansas Tech has won 89 percent of its home games since establishing its intercollegiate women’s basketball program in 1977.

The Golden Suns are 62-7 at Tucker Coliseum since the beginning of the 2013-14 season.

About the Golden Suns: Arkansas Tech opened its season Friday and Saturday in Kansas City with losses to 2018 NCAA Division II Tournament participants Minnesota State University-Moorhead and Northern State University. Junior forward Alicia Mardis (10 points per game), junior guard Hannah Villines (7.5 points per game) and sophomore guard Jacie Higgins (7.5 points per game) were the Golden Suns’ top scorers during the opening weekend.

About the Royals: Ecclesia College is located in Springdale and competes at the National Christian College Athletics Association level. The Royals were outscored by an average margin of 35.5 points per game in their first six contests of 2018-19.
