ASBTDC Offers October Sessions

Local small businesses will have the opportunity to attend several training sessions on business operations hosted by the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center (ASBTDC) regional office at Arkansas Tech University throughout the month of October.

Local small businesses will have the opportunity to attend several training sessions on business operations hosted by the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center (ASBTDC) regional office at Arkansas Tech University throughout the month of October.

The sessions and seminars will cover many topics including business strategies and how to market a business in a tough economy.

The regional office of the ASBTDC at Arkansas Tech is designed to assist new, existing and expanding businesses by offering a variety of services including consulting, training and market research.

The following seminars will be offered in October:

• Small Business Website Planning and Marketing on Tuesday, Oct. 2, from 6-8 p.m. at Arkansas Tech University in Rothwell Hall room 133. Speaker: Michael Stoker, Director of Web Strategies and Operations at Arkansas Tech University. Cost is $30.

• Facebook Business Pages (Hands on) on Friday, Oct. 5, from 1-4 p.m. at Arvest Bank in Fort Smith. Speaker: Ronda Hawkins, Training Coordinator for the Arkansas Tech ASBTDC. Cost is $35.

• Starting a Business in Arkansas on Tuesday, Oct. 16, from 1-4 p.m. at the Morrilton Chamber of Commerce. Speaker: Nathan George, Center Director for the Arkansas Tech ASBTDC. Cost is $30 ($20 for Chamber Members, Veterans attend free).

• Free & Local: Small Business Marketing on Thursday, Oct. 18, from 1-3 p.m. at the Clarksville Chamber of Commerce. Speaker: Ronda Hawkins, Training Coordinator for the Arkansas Tech ASBTDC. Cost is $30 ($20 for Chamber Members).

• Introduction to QuickBooks (Hands on) on Thursday, Oct. 25, from 1-4 p.m. at Beall Barclay & Company in Fort Smith. Speaker: Larissa Miller with Beall Barclay & Company, PLC. Cost is $65.

• Intermediate QuickBooks (Hands on) on Tuesday, Oct. 30, from 1-4 p.m. at Arkansas Tech University in Rothwell Hall room 133. Speaker: Ronda Hawkins, Training Coordinator for the Arkansas Tech ASBTDC. Cost is $65.

Arkansas Tech has been home to an ASBTDC regional office since January 2010. The office is located on the fourth floor of Rothwell Hall.

The ASBTDC represents a partnership between the U.S. Small Business Administration, the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and other institutions of higher education in Arkansas.

The regional office at Arkansas Tech serves Conway, Crawford, Franklin, Johnson, Logan, Pope, Scott, Sebastian and Yell counties.
