Arkansas Tech’s Khan Honored by IEEE Region 5

Arkansas Tech University faculty member Dr. Saffeer Khan was named recipient of the 2020 Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Region 5 Outstanding Student Branch Counselor Award during the organization’s 2021 virtual meeting on Saturday, April 10.

According to IEEE, recipients of the honor “exemplify the institute’s commitment to the educational, personal, professional and technical development of students in IEEE-related fields of interest.”

The award marks the second consecutive year that Khan has been recognized by IEEE. He received the IEEE Region 5 Outstanding Educator Award in 2019.

A member of the ATU faculty since 2016, Khan holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering degree from the National University of Sciences and Technology (Pakistan) and a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Nadirshaw Eduljee Dinshaw University of Engineering and Technology (Pakistan).

IEEE is the world’s largest technical professional organization with more than 396,000 members in 160 countries. IEEE’s Region 5 includes more than 23,000 members spread over 12 states in the central and southwestern United States.
