Polar Bears Ready to Plunge

Once a year the brave Arkansas Tech Polar Bears go for a dip in the frigid waters of Lake Dardanelle for a good cause.

The 7th Annual Polar Bear Plunge will be Tuesday, Feb. 22 beginning at 4 p.m. at the Lake Dardanelle State Park.

The students of Critz and Hughes Halls are inviting other students to join them to raise money and awareness for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Interested students should meet in the parking lot behind Witherspoon at 3:30 p.m. to carpool to Lake Dardanelle.

The Arkansas Tech Polar Bears are selling t-shirts for $10 each. They can be ordered at the Hughes Hall front desk or by calling Christopher Terrell at 870-582-1992. He advises participants to being a warm towel and change of clothes if they plan on plunging.

For more information, contact Terrell by phone or e-mail cterrell@atu.edu. There is also a Facebook page called “Arkansas Tech Polar Bears.”
