Arkansas Tech University alumnus Pat Fitts is the new director of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.
Fitts took office on Jan. 1, 2018, after serving as the agency’s assistant deputy director from April through December of 2017.
He has been with the AGFC for 29 years.
“Pat’s unique skills, experience and drive make him the right person to spearhead the mission of the AGFC,” said AGFC Chairman Steve Cook in a news release from the commission. “His ability to interact with the public and continue to manage this agency made him a natural for this position.”
A 1989 graduate of Arkansas Tech with a Bachelor of Science degree in fisheries and wildlife, Fitts is the 18th director in the 102-year history of the AGFC.
“I’m blessed to have spent my entire adult life serving alongside amazing people protecting our valuable natural resources,” said Fitts in the news release announcing his appointment. “It’s a humbling experience and I know there are challenges ahead. It’s just another opportunity to serve the wonderful people of Arkansas.”
