Area Professionals Recognized Today

The Arkansas Tech University Department of Continuing Education honored area administrative professionals today during the annual Administrative Professionals’ Day Seminar and Luncheon.

This marks the seventh year for the seminar and luncheon, which took place at the Lake Point Conference Center on Wednesday.

Organizers say the event is a great way to thank administrative professionals for their contribution to the workplace.

Today’s event began at 10:30 a.m. with representatives from local businesses sharing information with those in attendance and massage therapists were on hand to provide mini back massages. Vendors present included Belk, The Other Foot and More, The Beach Shack, Maurice’s, The Mirage and Crystal Smith of Aloette Cosmetics.

Stephen Svetz from the Arkansas Attorney General’s Office provided the keynote address.  Some of the topics Svetz discused include the growing problem of identity theft, ways to protect against identity theft and the mitigation process.

Following Svetz’ presentation, the professionals were treated to a gourmet lunch and there were several drawings for door prizes. The prizes were provided by Belk, Crystal Smith, The Other Foot and More, Maurice’s, The Beach Shack, The Mirage, Lake Point Conference Center and the Arkansas Tech Department of Continuing Education.

Lisa Cochran, director of continuing education, says the event has become a popular way to celebrate the efforts of office professionals.

“We are excited to offer this event again this year,” adds Cochran.  “This luncheon is truly a great way to honor office professionals, and we hope to once again provide an enjoyable day of good food, learning and fun as we honor these important professionals.”
