Arkansas Tech University agriculture student Carley Allen has been selected to receive the Wallace-Carver Fellowship from the United States Department of Agriculture.
Allen, a freshman, is studying agriculture business and pre-vet at Arkansas Tech.
According to the USDA website, fellows “are stationed at USDA research centers and field offices across the country to analyze agricultural and economic policy; assist in the management of food, nutrition and rural development programs; and take part in groundbreaking field and laboratory-based research.”
Allen will receive a paid internship at the Plant Genetic Research Unit in Geneva, New York. While there, she will have the opportunity to work on apple tree genetics.
