Ahrens Named to Top Fifteen

Miss Arkansas Tech University Lindsey Ahrens was named one of the top fifteen contestants competing for the title of Miss Arkansas on Saturday at the pageant in Hot Springs.

Ahrens also received the Dr. Rhys Branman Newcomer Award.  She was one of three contestants recognized with the award that honors the top newcomers to the Miss Arkansas Pageant.

Additionally, Ahrens received an Alpha Award during the preliminary evening wear competition.

During the pageant, Ahrens performed a vocal rendition of “Bridge Over Troubled Water” for her talent, and her critical issue was taking a stand for abstinence.

Ahrens is a sophomore pre-pharmacy major at Arkansas Tech.

Dr. Jim Collins, professor of horticulture and executive director of the Miss Tech Pageant, was also named one of the 2010 outstanding directors for his work with the Miss Arkansas Tech Pageant.
