Ahrens Makes Top Ten

Arkansas Tech University student Lindsey Ahrens was selected for the top ten at the Miss Arkansas pageant in Hot Springs Saturday evening.

One of 46 women vying for the crown, Lindsey garnered enough points during the preliminary competition to compete again in the finals in hopes of becoming Miss Arkansas.

This is the second time Lindsey has competed at the Miss Arkansas pageant, and she received a $1,000 scholarship for being named a semifinalist.

Ahrens says she is honored to have been named one of the ten semifinalists.  She adds, “Making the top ten is such and honor, and I couldn’t ask for best support from my directors, family, and friends. There were 46 amazing young women who all deserved to be in the top ten and would have made amazing Miss Arkansas.”

One lesson Lindsey says she will take with her is gratitude for the volunteers “who spend a week of their time making the Miss Arkansas pageant what it is.”

Two other Arkansas Tech University students competed in the pageant in Hot Springs.  Brandi Cromer and Savanna Knight were also among the 46 women competing for the title.

Miss Ouachita Baptist University Kristen Glover was named Miss Arkansas 2011.  In all, more than $76,000 in scholarships were awarded during the pageant.
