AGT Finalist to Perform at Arkansas Tech

Comedian Preacher Lawson, a finalist during the 2017 season of NBC’s “America’s Got Talent,” will perform for Arkansas Tech University students at the Doc Bryan Student Services Center Lecture Hall in Russellville on Monday, Nov. 6.

Lawson will take the stage at 7 p.m. Admission will be free with a valid ATU student identification card. The show is presented by the ATU Student Activities Board. The event is open to ATU students only.

A native of Portland, Ore., Lawson was raised in Memphis, Tenn., and began performing stand-up comedy at the age of 17. He won first place in the 2015 Funniest Comedian In Florida and the 2016 Seattle International Comedy Competition.

His big break came in summer 2017 when an average of 15.7 million viewers per week watched his physical comedy and voted him one of the top 10 acts during season 12 of “America’s Got Talent.”

During the weekend before he arrives at Arkansas Tech, Lawson will be part of four sold-out “America’s Got Talent Live” shows at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas.
