Spring Plant Sale Draws Crowd

Before 8 a.m. this morning, dozens of area residents gathered at the greenhouses on the north side of the main campus in Russellville hoping to reap the rewards of the work of Arkansas Tech students.

When the Arkansas Tech University Department of Agriculture opened its annual spring plant sale Friday morning, a variety of items including hanging baskets, tomato plants, azaleas, ferns, geraniums and pepper plants were among the plants available for purchase.

This year marks the 33rd year for the sale, which will end at 5 p.m. Friday and will reopen at 8 a.m. on Saturday.

Students studying agriculture are responsible for growing and caring for the plants that are available for purchase.

Funds raised from the sale will be used to purchase additional plants and greenhouse supplies.
