One of the Arkansas River Valley’s most colorful holiday traditions will return this week when the Arkansas Tech University Agri Club hosts its annual poinsettia sale at the Tech Greenhouses on Red Hill. The sale will be held on Thursday, Dec. 2, and Friday, Dec. 3, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. both days. All of the plants in the sale were grown by members of the upper level greenhouse management class at Arkansas Tech. Proceeds from the sale will allow the Tech Agri Club to purchase greenhouse plants and supplies and conduct club activities. “Along with our usual red and pink poinsettias, we also have several newer cultivars including ice punch, polar bear, the speckled jester jingle and the winter rose,” said Dr. Jim Collins, professor of horticulture at Arkansas Tech. “This year we’ll once again have painted and glittered plants in varieties such as turquoise, fuchsia, lilac and dark rose.” Collins is in his 28th year overseeing the Tech Agri Club poinsettia sale.
