Adams Wins GAC Weekly Award

Arkansas Tech University’s Fatima Adams received her seventh career Great American Conference women’s basketball player of the week award on Monday.

A senior forward from Bryan, Texas, Adams averaged 30.5 points and 12 rebounds per game in two appearances last week. It is her fourth GAC player of the week award during the 2015-16 season.

Adams leads the GAC and ranks fourth nationally at the NCAA Division II level in scoring this season with a 21.7 points per game average. She is on pace to become the first Golden Suns player to average more than 20 points per game in back-to-back seasons since Lanell Dawson achieved that feat in 1988-89 and 1989-90.

Arkansas Tech has won 15 of its last 16 games entering the final weekend of the 2015-16 regular season.

The GAC regular season champion Golden Suns (21-3 overall, 19-1 GAC) will conclude the regular season with a two-game home stand. Tech will host Southeastern Oklahoma State University at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25, and East Central University at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27.

Tickets ($5 adults / $3 senior citizens and students) will be available at the Tucker Coliseum ticket office. Radio station KCJC 102.3 FM and www.arkansastechsports.com will have live coverage.
