Arkansas Tech University’s Fatima Adams has captured the first Great American Conference women’s basketball player of the week award for the 2015-16 season.
Adams received the honor after scoring 27 points and grabbing eight rebounds in the Golden Suns’ season-opening 82-62 win over Lane College on Saturday. She was 11-of-15 from the field.
A senior from Bryan, Texas, Adams was GAC newcomer of the year, first team All-GAC, first team All-NCAA Division II Central Region and third team All-America during the 2014-15 season.
Arkansas Tech (1-0) will open the GAC portion of its 2015-16 schedule by taking on Southwestern Oklahoma State University for a 5:30 p.m. game in Weatherford, Okla., on Thursday, Nov. 19.
