Adams Leads Suns to Win in Season Debut

Fatima Adams scored 27 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead nationally 18th-ranked Arkansas Tech University to an 82-62 victory over Lane College in the 2015-16 women’s basketball season opener at Tucker Coliseum in Russellville on Saturday afternoon.

Adams, a senior All-American from Bryan, Texas, was 11-of-15 from the field. Tierani Richardson added 12 points for the Golden Suns (1-0).

Arkansas Tech led 34-31 at halftime and took control of the game by outscoring the Lady Dragons 26-11 in the third quarter.

Tashara Jones led Lane (0-1) with 18 points.

The Golden Suns will begin Great American Conference play with a 5:30 p.m. game against Southwestern Oklahoma State University on Thursday, Nov. 19. Radio station KCJC 102.3 FM and www.arkansastechsports.com will have live coverage.
